The Club of Budapest USA is pleased to announce that global founder Dr. Ervin Laszlo has received the 2001 Peace Award presented by the Goi Peace Foundation in Japan.

The Goi Peace Foundation, based in Tokyo, Japan, is dedicated to promoting World peace. The Foundation provides international educational programs that encourage peace and cooperation among individuals and organizations in all fields, including education, science, culture, and the arts. It's United States sister organization is the New York based World Peace Prayer Society, an NGO associated with the United Nations.

The Goi Peace Award is presented globally to individuals that have made outstanding contributions to the cultivation of world peace and advancement of humanity. In 2000, the first annual Goi Peace Award was given to the British scientist Dr. James Lovelock.

Dr. Laszlo, preeminent scholar and futurist, has authored or edited over 60 books and one recently released by Berrett-Koehler is titled, Macroshift: Navigating the Transformation to a Sustainable World. In Macroshift Dr. Laszlo makes a vital point: the future of humanity and the earth is not to be forecast but to be created. "What we do for lasting peace today will create the shape of Peace tomorrow." Macroshift furnishes guidelines to create a positive scenario for new thinking and new ways to act.

Dr. Laszlo received the Goi Peace Award in a ceremony at the Tokyo International Forum Oct. 21st 2001 at the annual international symposium of the Foundation.
